Are the effects of osteoarthritis lowering your quality of life? Osteoarthritis (OA) affects over 40 million people in North America and is most commonly found in those 50 and above as it often takes years to develop. It is a degenerative disease that sets in as the structure of our joints begin to deteriorate and over time the speed of new tissue growth is overtaken by the speed of tissue breakdown. Eventually the protective tissues around a joint wear down to the point that movement becomes extremely painful as bone grinds on bone. It can keep from your favorite activities such as golf, hiking or exercise, or even cause everyday tasks like opening jars or chopping vegetables seem like painful obstacles.

17% of the U.S. population over age 15 deals with chronic pain on a daily basis that has diminished their quality of life. It is said that 1 in 4 people experience some degree of pain at any given moment Medications, invasive procedures, and surgeries. These are the pain management solutions that many people with chronic pain are left to choose between. These conventional approaches leave much to be desired, yet most chronic pain sufferers have been through one or more of these so called solutions. Many are still in the same state, if not worse. Though many Dr’s have begun to recognize the value of alternative modalities such as acupuncture, massage and chiropractic therapy, rarely do we see a referral for energy medicine such as PEMF technology. There are many helpful modalities out there that are incredibly effective, but sadly underutilized. As a practitioner of PEMF technology, I am constantly working towards awareness. |
