Are the effects of osteoarthritis lowering your quality of life?
Osteoarthritis (OA) affects over 40 million people in North America and is most commonly found in those 50 and above as it often takes years to develop. It is a degenerative disease that sets in as the structure of our joints begin to deteriorate and over time the speed of new tissue growth is overtaken by the speed of tissue breakdown. Eventually the protective tissues around a joint wear down to the point that movement becomes extremely painful as bone grinds on bone.
